Contemporary Townhouses

We received this multi unit design in rough concept form only. From there, we developed the townhouse design and created working drawings so that it could be approved and constructed. We wished to remain true to the original concept of the building; the striking contemporary lines make a dramatic impact on the local streetscape, while taking in the expansive mountain views.

Building Features

Raked ceilings and open plan living

Generous storage areas – basement rooms, full height wine cellars, walk-in robes, linen presses, etc.

Clerestory windows and dramatic roof lines

Private courtyards that open the living areas onto the North and East

East Elevation

This façade was designed around a neat 2×2 grid. The garage door was split into two in order to reduce visual impact. Bedrooms and rumpus rooms above the garage take advantage of the morning light and mountain views.

Northeast Facade

The North-East facade addresses the corner street frontage whilst giving views down the scenic valley to the north. This element also connects the two units to give an attractive street presence that reads as one building rather than a disconnected duplex.

Articulated Facade

We wanted to avoid falling in to the ‘boxy’ look common with a lot of multi unit developments. We stepped the facade to add interest and the privacy between the two units.

The Building

We are confident that the building will continue to perform well as an investment and for the people who live in it. It is a comfortable and stylish structure which will perform well into the future.
